The Department of System Semiconductor Engineering is an industry-sponsored department that Sogang University established with SK hynix to educate top semiconductor engineers who will lead system semiconductor technology, a key component of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It admitted its first students in 2023.
The department offers convergent theory and hands-on training in state-of-the-art semiconductor processes, devices, design, systems and software, and gives students opportunities to learn independently, lead research, and develop creativity and leadership. Close collaboration with SK hynix enables distinctive programs such as industry internships and field training. Our students graduate as system-semiconductor experts whose practical experience rests on a strong theoretical foundation.
Research & Education
To prepare students for emerging semiconductor technologies, the department teaches the devices, processes and design essential to next-generation semiconductors, together with AI systems and software. Courses and internships designed with SK hynix’s industry experience are part of the graduation requirements, so students gain practical experience as well as theory.
